ATP 100--Automotive Services
3 Credits This hands-on course is designed for both consumers interested in their own car repair and individuals interested in entry-level skills that will help them gain employment in the automotive service industry. Theory, demonstrations and performance activities provide an overview of automotive systems and repairs, technology based service resources, and ethically based inspection and service recommendations.

ATP 139--Applied Automotive Techniques
2 Credits This is a performance based hands on course designed for individuals interested in developing entry level skills that will help them gain employment in the automotive industry. Demonstrations and hands on LAB activities provide practical experience of service tasks related to automotive systems. Students must provide their own tools. It is required that students have completed ATP 100 plus ATP 151, or ATP 101. ATP 275--Modern Welding Techniques
3 Credits This course is an introduction to MIG and TIG welding and plasma cutting. These skills are practical and often essential for various craftspersons. Students will work with aluminum, stainless steel, and other common metals in this course. This course is offered off-site at Mahaney Welding. In addition to tuition, part-time students must purchase student insurance. Students should also expect to purchase a pre-packaged kit of course materials including their safety equipment and book.

MMP 100--Survey of Automotive Transportation and Service
3 Credits This course will examine the effects of the automobile on global society and the environment from various perspectives, exploring the resulting factors driving changes in automotive and emissions technologies. Students will consider political, economic and ethical issues associated with the automotive industry that include safety devices, emissions standards, factory recalls, state and federal legislation and repair practices. This course will also look at how these global, environmental and ethical factors shape automotive service career responsibilities and opportunities. Students may wish to take MMP 101 Survey of Automotive Service Lab concurrently. This accompanying lab component is highly recommended but not required.

MMP 101--Survey of Automotive Service Lab
1 Credit Students will apply valid service resources and utilize state-of-the-art equipment to perform and report ethically based automotive inspections, maintenance and services. Proper shop safety practices and entry-level job skills for automotive service will be covered. The department highly recommends students enrolled in this course also concurrently enroll in MMP 100 Survey of Automotive Service and Transportation.

MMP 151--Introduction to Automotive Service
4.5 Credits An introductory course designed to develop entry level skills, including: workplace safety, proper use of hand tools and lifts, application of manufacturer vehicle information systems, vehicle maintenance, scan tool usage and an overview of vehicle systems. MMP 156--Steering and Suspension
4.5 Credits In-depth study of adjustable and non-adjustable alignment measurements with emphasis on proper alignment techniques, methods of adjustment, complete 4-wheel alignment. Manual and power steering system diagnosis and repair, complete suspension system service including coil spring, torsion bar, and MacPherson struts. MMP 151 with a grade C or higher.
